“Celebrations and ceremonies
... give us pause in the continuity of time to appreciate and
honour the depth and breadth of our relationships.”
- Karen Downes
Simple or elaborate, intimate or
grand, traditional or creative ... I can help to create a joyful
occasion for you.
I have a strong background in literature and language, so not
only can I help with examples of ceremonies, vows, poems and so
on, but I can also help you to frame your own thoughts into
words that flow smoothly and say exactly what you want to say.
One of the things I most enjoy about being a Celebrant is
helping people
to say what they want to say,
the way they want to say it.
Although on the day I will
lead you through the proceedings, I firmly believe that -
The
Celebrant isn’t the star of the show.
It is your ceremony and my aim is for you to be happy with it
and the way in which it is conducted...
As well as the conventional
ceremonies, I am happy to work on others such as boat launches,
house naming/warmings, solstice ceremonies or personal rites of
passage where changes of direction in life are taking place.
My professional background is in education and librarianship. My
husband and I have travelled widely and I have lived and taught
in Australia, the UK and America. My interests include
needlework and bobbin lacemaking.
On a practical level, I am happy to travel and I enjoy a variety
of settings for ceremonies. I own my own lectern and P.A.
system. I am happy to meet with you at a pre-arranged location
(perhaps your home), or at my home-office (which does have the
advantage of my resources being at hand).
At the end of the day I want you to have taken part in a
ceremony that we created together and one which will leave happy
memories for years to come.
